“Brilliance is defined as ‘distilling the complex...to the simple which is just what Ken Lizotte has accomplished. Ken’s latest work is a must-read for CEOs (and all others) who seek a practical way to separate themselves and their companies from their competitors. I’m putting it at the top of my recommended CEO reading list.”

Excerpt from Chapter 1: “Donald Trump, Megastar”
The best-known thoughtleaders of today are megastars. You see them on the covers of their books; you see them on TV. They are quoted and profiled and spotlighted incessantly—not just in the business pages of newspapers and magazines, but in gossip columns and society pages and on celebrity TV newsmagazines as well. They are beyond famous—they are gargantuan glitterati, celebrated personalities, ubiquitous, razzle-dazzle, neon-escent.
Consider the most glaring example, Donald Trump. The Donald holds press conferences, writes bestsellers, shows up on Larry King and Access Hollywood and The View. He has had his own hit TV show; he’s hosted Saturday Night Live. The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, and USA Today all love him. He keynotes the most spectacular business events while he feuds with glitterati, leading the headlines on Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood and the covers of Us magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and People. Obviously, we could go on and on.
There is so much media to go around these days that thoughtleaders, when they make the really big time, can grow very large—oversized even. Yet this bigness isn’t what thoughtleading is all about; it just exposes how many thoughtleading channels exist today and how far things can sometimes get carried away. What’s much more important for the sincere practitioner of thoughtleading to understand is that all these media and all these “visibility channels” exist to help get the word out about thoughtleaders and their businesses. Knowing which media to use and how to use them is the key to thoughtleading success, even if one’s fame or notoriety comes nowhere close to that of The Donald and other megastars.
